Senator Elisha Abbo, who serves as the lawmaking representative fir Adamawa North Senatorial District, has issued a public apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and has cleared him of ant association with his recent removal from the senate.

During a televised address on Arise TV this Wednesday morning, October 18, 2023, Abbo withdrew his earlier accusations and offered a gesture of reconciliation to his fellow legislator.

“I have to say this with all sense of humility and responsibility, that the press release we rendered yesterday was premature,” Abbo stated.

“Based on the available information at our disposal yesterday, we had made accusations. But as of today, we have discovered a lot more. I had a discussion with Senate President my brother, my colleague, Distinguished Senator Akpabio, and I am convinced that he’s not involved.

Abbo underscored his confidence in Akpabio’s innocence, recalling a conversation in which Akpabio had solemnly sworn on his late mother’s grave, affirming his non-involvement.

“I don’t see a reason why he would lie,” Abbo remarked. “Today, additional intelligence trickled in, and we have abundant information that clears his name.”

The remarkable shift in circumstances came after Abbo’s initial assertion that Akpabio played a role in his Senate expulsion, alleging that his refusal to endorse Akpabio’s candidacy for Senate President led to his ousting.

Abbo’s removal followed the Court of Appeal’s decision in Abuja, which invalidated his election and declared Amos Yohanna, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, as the victor in the February 25 senatorial election.

In response to Abbo’s initial allegations, Akpabio’s spokesperson had labeled them as uncharitable and underscored Akpabio’s absence of ill intentions toward any of his fellow lawmakers.

The spokesperson clarified that the court’s judgment was the outcome of a rigorous assessment of facts and evidence in accordance with the rule of law.
